Batuschka is a novel by Thomas Bailey Aldrich, first published in 1887. It tells the story of a young Russian nobleman, Prince Ivan, who is sent to America to find a bride. He meets and falls in love with a young American woman, Mary, and they plan to marry. However, Ivan's father, the Grand Duke, disapproves of the match and sends Ivan back to Russia. Ivan is determined to return to Mary, and he embarks on a dangerous journey across Europe and America to be reunited with her. Along the way, he faces many obstacles, including a band of gypsies, a mysterious stranger, and a powerful enemy. In the end, Ivan and Mary are reunited and their love triumphs over all.
