Thornton Wilder (1897–1975) was an American playwright and novelist. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin, and educated at Yale University and Princeton University. Wilder is best known for his plays "Our Town" and "The Skin of Our Teeth," both of which won Pulitzer Prizes. He also received a Pulitzer Prize for his novel "The Bridge of San Luis Rey." Wilder's work often explores themes of human connection and the passage of time.
