Walter de la Mare (1873–1956) was an English poet, short story writer, and novelist. He is best known for his children's literature and supernatural fiction. His notable works include the poetry collection "Peacock Pie" and the novel "Memoirs of a Midget." De la Mare's writing often explores themes of imagination, childhood, and the uncanny. He received the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for fiction in 1921 and was awarded the Order of Merit in 1953.
