Warwick Deeping (1877-1950) was an English novelist and short story writer. He was born in London and educated at Dulwich College. He worked as a doctor for a short time before turning to writing full-time. He wrote over 50 novels and numerous short stories, many of which were set in the fictional town of Merton. His most famous novel is Sorrell and Son (1925), which was adapted into a film in 1927. He was a popular author in his day, and his works were translated into many languages. He was also a prolific playwright, with several of his plays being produced in London's West End.
