When I close my eyes I get a picture of the place where Nana and I will be together. The great plain of Nicolocac and the kites like constellations in the heavens. Some are flying close to the ground, because their strings are short. Others drop out of the sky with broken props and paper in shreds. But Mario's kite stays there among the highest and the lightest and most beautiful, like a fixed star brightly burning.

Then will come the marimba, and the man who jumps on to a box to announce that the circus is coming. From a train that has brought him there specially to meet us, out will get Don Pepe, all twisted into contortions. And the sisters Cordero will perform that trick so difficult we can't even imagine it, called the Irish loop. And so many snakes will uncoil, and so much confetti will rain down on us that it will be quite a job to see the procession of foreigners.
