Annie Fellows Johnston (1863-1931) was an American author of children's books. She was born in Indiana and grew up in a large family. She wrote her first book, The Little Colonel, in 1895. The book was a huge success and she went on to write many more books in the Little Colonel series. She also wrote several other books, including The Three Weavers, The Story of Dago, and The Little Colonel's Christmas Vacation. Johnston was a popular author in her day and her books were widely read by children. She was also a philanthropist and was involved in many charitable causes. She died in 1931 at the age of 68.
