Big Brother is a novel by Annie Fellows Johnston, first published in 1908. It tells the story of two brothers, Tom and Phil, who are sent to live with their aunt and uncle in the country after their father dies. The boys are very different in personality and outlook, and their relationship is strained. Tom is the older brother and is more serious and responsible. He is determined to make a success of himself and to provide for his family. Phil, on the other hand, is more carefree and irresponsible. He is content to live in the moment and not worry about the future. The boys' aunt and uncle are kind and loving, but they are also strict and expect the boys to work hard and obey their rules. Tom and Phil must learn to get along and work together if they are to make a success of their new life. The novel follows the boys as they adjust to their new home and learn to appreciate each other's strengths and weaknesses. Along the way, they also learn valuable lessons about life, family, and friendship.
