Apuleius

Born circa 123 AD in Madaura, Numidia (modern-day Algeria). Died after 170 AD. Roman citizen of African descent. Educated in Greek and Latin literature. Taught rhetoric in Rome. Wrote in both Latin and Greek. Known for his philosophical and literary works, including a novel that is considered one of the greatest works of Latin literature.
