The Message to the Shepherds

On a quiet night in the fields near Bethlehem, shepherds keeping watch over their flocks suddenly witnessed a brilliant, heavenly light surround them as an angel of the Lord appeared. Though struck with fear, they were immediately comforted by the angel's words: "Fear not!" The angel then delivered a message of profound joy, announcing the birth of a Saviour, Christ the Lord, in the city of David. As a sign, the shepherds were told they would find the newborn Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. Before they could fully absorb this news, a vast multitude of heavenly angels joined the first, praising God and proclaiming glory in the highest and peace on earth. When the angels departed, the shepherds wasted no time and hurried to Bethlehem, where they found Mary, Joseph, and the infant exactly as described. Though humble and poor, they were chosen to receive and witness this extraordinary revelation, and they joyfully shared the news with all they encountered, spreading word that the child in the manger was Christ the Lord.
