Parable of the Lowest Place
The Parable of the Lowest Place is a story written by Charles Kingsley that describes how a group of people who are considered outcasts and unworthy of God's love, come together to form a community. The parable begins with a man named Lazarus who is sick and poor. He is taken in by his sisters Mary and Martha, who care for him until he dies. After Lazarus' death, the two sisters send word to Jesus asking that he come and raise their brother from the dead. When Jesus arrives at the home of Lazarus' family, he finds that Lazarus has already been buried for four days. Despite this, Jesus calls out to Lazarus and tells him to come forth. Lazarus rises from his grave and is reunited with his sisters. The parable ends with a message about God's love for all people, regardless of their social status or religious beliefs.

But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. -LUKE xiv. 7–11.
