A young man's fiancée dies suddenly and he becomes obsessed with the idea of premature burial. He begins to experience vivid nightmares and eventually starts to suspect that his own life is in danger due to a supposed plot by his family to bury him alive. The story builds towards a climactic confrontation between the protagonist and those he suspects are trying to kill him, ultimately leading to a tragic conclusion.
