Ernest Haycox (1899–1950) was an American author known for his Western fiction. Born in Portland, Oregon, he served in World War I before attending the University of Oregon. Haycox wrote numerous short stories and novels, many of which were serialized in magazines like Collier's and The Saturday Evening Post. His works include "Stagecoach," which inspired John Ford's classic film, and "The Earthbreakers." Haycox's writing is noted for its historical accuracy and vivid portrayal of the American West.
