The great variety of useful little books lately published, under such titles as _Daily Food_, _Daily Crumbs_, _Devout Exercises_, &c. and the favour with which these have been met, suggested to the compiler, the utility of attempting something of the same kind. He had accidentally met with a little work, called, "Directions," &c. published by _Maltbys_, New Haven; and though there were some things in it which he did not like, he thought it, on the whole, a very valuable little manual of instruction.
