Peasant Songs of Spain

Peasant Songs of Spain is a collection of Spanish folk songs compiled by George Borrow. The book was first published in 1843 and contains over 200 songs, many of which are accompanied by musical notation. The songs are divided into two sections: the first section contains songs from the Basque region, while the second section contains songs from the rest of Spain. Borrow collected the songs during his travels in Spain, and he provides detailed notes on the history and context of each song. He also includes a brief introduction to the book, in which he explains his motivations for collecting the songs and his admiration for the Spanish people. Peasant Songs of Spain is an important source of information on Spanish folk music and culture. It is also an interesting insight into the life and culture of 19th century Spain.
