John Mackay Wilson (1790-1850) was a Scottish author and poet. He was born in Edinburgh and educated at the University of Edinburgh. He was a prolific writer, publishing several books of poetry, novels, and plays. His most famous work is The Seven Lights, a collection of seven stories published in 1835. The stories are set in Scotland and explore themes of love, loss, and redemption. Wilson was also a noted critic and essayist, writing for several periodicals. He died in Edinburgh in 1850.
