Keith Laumer

Keith Laumer (1925-1993) was an American science fiction author. He wrote more than 30 novels and over 100 short stories, many of which were adapted into television shows and films. He was born in Syracuse, New York, and served in the United States Air Force during World War II. After the war, he attended the University of Illinois, where he earned a degree in engineering. He began writing science fiction in the 1950s, and his first novel, Retief of the CDT, was published in 1962. He is best known for his Retief series, which follows the adventures of a diplomat in a future interstellar society. He also wrote the Bolo series, which follows the adventures of a series of intelligent tanks. Laumer's work is noted for its humor and satire, and he was a major influence on the cyberpunk genre.
