In this sequel to The Land of Oz, Dorothy returns after a year's absence and finds that the Wicked Witch of the East has been killed by a flying monkey, but her sister, the Wicked Witch of the West, seeks revenge against Dorothy. Dorothy must navigate the complexities of Oz politics while trying to find a way back home. She meets new characters, including the Wizard's former advisor, who is now a powerful sorceress, and a group of Munchkins who are being oppressed by the Wicked Witch. The story follows Dorothy as she tries to outwit the witch and her minions, while also dealing with her own feelings about being back in Oz. Along the way, she discovers that the Wizard's power is not what it seems, and that there may be more to the land of Oz than meets the eye.
