Ripple, the Water Sprite

In a vibrant underwater realm, a joyful water sprite named Ripple resides in a coral palace surrounded by sea-flowers and treasures. She enjoys playful activities with her fellow sprites but is deeply saddened by the tragedies of shipwrecks and the loss of children to the sea. One day, she discovers a drowned child and, moved by the mother’s grief on the shore, vows to bring the child back to life. Ripple seeks the Queen of the sea for help, but learns that only a spark from the fire spirits can revive the child. Undeterred, she embarks on a perilous journey to find the fire spirits, receiving guidance and gifts from the seasons—Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter—each offering assistance for her quest. Despite warnings of danger, Ripple persists, determined to fulfill her promise. Upon reaching the realm of the fire spirits, Ripple encounters their fierce and wild nature. She pleads for a spark to revive the child, but the spirits refuse, valuing their flames too highly. Ripple offers her beautiful necklace of jewels in exchange, but they melt upon contact, inciting the spirits' anger. In a desperate attempt to appease them, she promises to return with more jewels. With the spirits’ reluctant agreement, Ripple receives the spark and returns to the sea, where she successfully revives the child. The joyous reunion with the mother follows, and Ripple is gifted a chain of pearls as thanks. However, when she returns to the fire spirits with her treasures, they again melt, leading to her potential imprisonment. In a moment of despair, Ripple offers her life for the child’s sake, but the spirits, moved by her selflessness, instead request the pearls, which do not melt. Ripple gives them up, and in gratitude, the spirits create a beautiful rainbow path for her return to the sea, celebrating her bravery and kindness. Ripple returns home, welcomed by her friends, having fulfilled her promise and learned the value of sacrifice and love.
