He was sent home to England, but his illness was never diagnosed. Tom and his family do their best to help the man, but his condition continues to worsen. Eventually, Tom discovers the cause of the man’s illness and is able to help him. With the help of a doctor, the man is cured and is able to return to his home in the country. Tom and his family are happy to have helped the man, and the story ends with the man thanking them for their kindness.
