James Pethel by Max Beerbohm (1919)

In Max Beerbohm's book, James Pethel, the reader is taken on a journey through the life of the titular character. Throughout the book, James is forced to make difficult decisions and confront his own fears and insecurities. In the end, he is able to find a balance between his artistic ambitions and his family's expectations. In the process, he discovers a newfound sense of self-confidence and purpose.
