Sir Henry Maximilian Beerbohm (1872-1956) was an English essayist, parodist, and caricaturist. He was born in London, England, and educated at Merton College, Oxford. He began his career as a caricaturist for the magazine Punch, and later wrote for The Saturday Review and other publications. He is best known for his witty and satirical essays, which often poked fun at the conventions of the day. He was knighted in 1939 for his contributions to literature.
