O. Henry

O. Henry (born William Sydney Porter) was an American short story writer. He was born in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1862 and died in New York City in 1910. He is best known for his witty and humorous stories, which often feature surprise endings. His stories often feature characters from the lower classes of society, such as immigrants, struggling artists, and the working poor. He wrote over 300 short stories, including "The Gift of the Magi" and "The Ransom of Red Chief". He was also a poet and a playwright.
