Ossip Schubin (1853–1934)

Ossip Schubin (1890-1941) was a Russian-Jewish writer and journalist. He was born in the city of Odessa, Ukraine, and studied at the University of Odessa. He was a prolific writer, publishing numerous works of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. He was also a prominent figure in the Jewish literary world, and was a member of the Jewish Writers' Union. Schubin's works often focused on the plight of the Jewish people in Russia, and he was an outspoken critic of the Soviet regime. He was arrested in 1937 and sentenced to 10 years in a labor camp. He died in 1941, while still in prison. Schubin's works have been translated into several languages, and his legacy continues to be celebrated in Russia and abroad. He is remembered as a passionate advocate for the rights of the Jewish people, and his works remain an important part of the Russian literary canon.
