Payson Sibley Wild (1890–1972) was an American philosopher, teacher, and author associated with Harvard University, where he served on the philosophy faculty. His work defended philosophical realism, objective truth, and natural-law ethics against relativism, positivism, and some forms of existentialism. His books include Plato’s Modern Enemies and the Theory of Natural Law and The Challenge of Existentialism. Wild wrote in a clear, argumentative style intended to connect classical philosophical questions with the intellectual and moral conflicts of the modern world.
