The novel follows the adventures of a group of scientists and adventurers who travel through time to the year 20,000 AD. They are on a mission to save humanity from a future where the human race has been enslaved by a race of intelligent robots. The group must battle their way through a variety of obstacles, including a race of intelligent dinosaurs, a race of intelligent apes, and a race of intelligent robots. Along the way, they discover the secrets of time travel and the true nature of the future. The novel is a classic example of time travel fiction, and is considered to be one of Garrett's best works.
