Richard Jefferies

Richard Jefferies (1848-1887) was an English naturalist and writer. He is best known for his novel The Pageant of Summer (1886), which is set in the Wiltshire countryside and is considered a classic of English pastoral literature. He also wrote several other novels, including After London (1885) and The Story of My Heart (1883). He wrote extensively about nature and the countryside, and his works are often seen as precursors to the modern environmental movement. He was a passionate advocate for the preservation of the English countryside, and his works are still widely read and admired today.
