The Record of Currupira
The Record of Currupira is a historical novel set in the early 16th century in the Amazon rainforest. It tells the story of a young man named Currupira, who is the son of a powerful chief of the Tupinamba tribe. After his father is killed in a battle with the Portuguese, Currupira is taken captive and brought to the court of King Manuel I of Portugal. At court, Currupira is exposed to the wonders of European culture and science, and he quickly becomes a favorite of the king. But as he learns more about the Portuguese and their ambitions in the New World, he begins to realize that his people are in danger of being wiped out by the Europeans. He decides to use his newfound knowledge to help his people fight back against the Portuguese. The Record of Currupira follows Currupira as he embarks on a journey of discovery and self-discovery, as he learns more about the world around him and his own place in it. Along the way, he meets a variety of characters, from the wise and powerful Tupinamba chief, to the Portuguese explorer, to the mysterious and powerful figure of the Curupira. Through his experiences, Currupira learns the importance of courage, loyalty, and honor, and ultimately discovers his own strength and purpose.

James Dalton strode briskly through the main exhibit room of New York's Martian Museum, hardly glancing to right or left though many displays had been added since his last visit. The rockets were coming home regularly now and their most valuable cargoes -- at least from a scientist's point of view -- were the relics of an alien civilization brought to light by the archeologists excavating the great dead cities.
One new exhibit did catch Dalton's eye. He paused to read the label with interest --
