Robert W. Chambers

Born on May 26, 1859, in Brooklyn, New York, he was an American artist and writer. He studied at the Art Students' League of New York and later at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Initially pursuing a career in art, he turned to writing in the 1890s. His early work consisted of romantic fiction and short stories, but he gained fame with his collection of supernatural short stories, The King in Yellow (1895). This was followed by Cardigan (1901) and The Adventures of a Modest Man (1903). He died on December 16, 1933, at the age of 74.
