Theodosia Pickrering Garrison (1874-1961) was an American author and educator. She was born in New York City and attended the University of Chicago, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1895. She then went on to teach at the University of Chicago and later at the University of Wisconsin. Garrison wrote several books, including The Story of the American Flag (1917), The Story of the Constitution (1919), and The Story of the Declaration of Independence (1921). She also wrote several books for children, including The Story of the Pilgrims (1922) and The Story of the Thirteen Colonies (1923). Garrison was a member of the National Education Association and the National Council of Women. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames of America. She was an active member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union and the National League of Women Voters. Garrison was a strong advocate for women's rights and education. She was a leader in the suffrage movement and was a vocal supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment. She was also a proponent of the League of Nations and the United Nations. Garrison died in 1961 at the age of 87.
