Thomas A. Janvier (1849–1913) was an American author, journalist, and historian. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and educated at the University of Pennsylvania. He began his career as a journalist, writing for the Philadelphia Press and the New York Tribune. He later became a freelance writer, contributing to Harper's Magazine, Scribner's Magazine, and other periodicals. Janvier wrote several books, including Our Pirate Hoard (1891), a collection of stories about pirates and their adventures. He also wrote a number of historical works, including The History of the City of New York (1894) and The History of the State of New Jersey (1895). He was a member of the American Historical Association and the New York Historical Society.
