The story follows a young German student, Gottfried Wolfgang, who is studying in Paris. One night, he is walking home from a ball when he hears a woman's screams coming from a nearby house. He rushes to the house and finds a woman being attacked by a man. He manages to save her and take her to safety. The woman, who is named Agnes, tells Gottfried that she is a German princess who was kidnapped by the man and brought to Paris. She had been held captive in the house for several weeks. Gottfried and Agnes eventually fall in love and decide to get married. However, the man who kidnapped Agnes is still out there and is determined to get revenge. Gottfried must find a way to protect Agnes and keep her safe from the man's clutches. The story follows Gottfried as he attempts to protect Agnes and keep her safe. Along the way, he must face many obstacles and dangers, including a mysterious figure who seems to be stalking him. In the end, Gottfried is able to protect Agnes and they are able to live happily ever after.
