For this reason I am here in your company: for Chile, for her blue sovereignty, for the ocean of fishermen, for copper and the struggles in the office, for the bread of nightingale children, for the good companion and woman friend, for the sea, the rose and ear of grain, for our forgotten countrymen, students, sailors, and soldiers, for the people of every land, for the bells and the roots, for the roads and the footpaths that lead to the light of the whole world and for the liberating will of red flags in the dawn.
All my happiness flows from this union.
Fight beside me and I will deliver to you all the weapons of my poetry.
