Pablo Neruda

Born in Parral, Chile, on July 12, 1904, he was the son of a railway worker and a seamstress. He wrote his first poems at age 10 and published his first book of poetry at 17. He studied French literature at the University of Chile and later worked as a diplomat, serving in various countries including Burma, Argentina, and Spain.
