David Christie Murray

David Christie Murray (1847–1907) was a British novelist and playwright. He was born in London, the son of a barrister, and was educated at King's College London. He began writing in 1868, and his first novel, A Life's Atonement, was published in 1871. He went on to write over 40 novels, many of which were adapted for the stage. His works often featured strong female characters, and he was a pioneer in the genre of detective fiction. He also wrote several plays, including The Middleman (1890) and The Silver King (1895). He died in 1907 in London.
