E.w. Hornung

E. W. Hornung (1866–1921) was an English author best known for his stories about the gentleman thief A. J. Raffles. He was born in Middlesbrough, England, and was the brother-in-law of Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of Sherlock Holmes. Hornung was educated at Uppingham School and Trinity College, Cambridge. He worked as a journalist and wrote several novels, including A Bride from the Bush (1890), A Thief in the Night (1898), and The Black Mask (1901). He also wrote several collections of short stories featuring Raffles, including The Amateur Cracksman (1899) and Raffles: Further Adventures of the Amateur Cracksman (1905). Hornung died in 1921 in France.
