The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby is a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald set in the Jazz Age of 1920s America. The novel follows the life of Jay Gatsby, a mysterious and wealthy man living in West Egg, Long Island. Gatsby is obsessed with Daisy Buchanan, a beautiful woman from a wealthy family who is married to Tom Buchanan. Gatsby throws lavish parties in the hopes of Daisy attending, and eventually the two reunite. However, their reunion is short-lived as Daisy is still married to Tom and is unwilling to leave him. Gatsby's past is revealed, and it is revealed that he was once in love with Daisy before he left to fight in World War I. Gatsby's dream of being with Daisy is shattered, and he is eventually killed by Daisy's husband's mistress. The novel ends with Nick Carraway, Gatsby's neighbor and Daisy's cousin, reflecting on the tragedy of Gatsby's life and death.
