George MacDonald

George MacDonald (1824-1905) was a Scottish author, poet, and Christian minister. He is best known for his fantasy novels, such as The Princess and the Goblin and Phantastes, as well as his fairy tales and fantasy stories. He was a major influence on C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and other authors of fantasy and children's literature. MacDonald was also a prolific writer of sermons, poetry, and literary criticism. He was a strong advocate of Christian universalism, which holds that all people will eventually be reconciled to God.
