Iron Hans by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm

A poor miller's son lies to the king about his father's occupation, claiming he was a goldsmith who had made a golden bird that sang beautifully. The king demands the bird as payment for a favor granted to the miller's son. The miller's son is unable to deliver and is thrown into prison. A mysterious figure appears in the forest, offering to help the miller's son by providing him with a magical iron horse. However, the horse is not what it seems, and the miller's son soon finds himself trapped in a cave with no way out. The king discovers that he has been deceived and orders his men to search for the miller's son. They find him in the cave and bring him back to the palace. The miller's son is forced to confess his lies, and as punishment, he is thrown into a well. A poor woodcutter finds the miller's son in the well and rescues him. However, the miller's son soon realizes that he has been given a second chance at life and decides to make amends for his past mistakes by working hard and being honest.
