A poor girl is forced to flee her home after being mistreated by her stepmother. She encounters a wicked woman who tries to kill her, but she escapes and falls into a well. A kind old woman finds her and takes her in, teaching her how to spin flax into gold. The girl's kindness and hard work are rewarded when the old woman is transformed into a queen, and the girl becomes rich and happy.
