The Thirty-Nine Steps is a 1915 adventure novel by the Scottish author John Buchan. Along the way, he meets a variety of characters, including a beautiful woman who helps him in his quest. The novel culminates in a dramatic climax on the Scottish moors, where Hannay must use all his wits and courage to outwit his pursuers and save the day.
