The South Seaman is a novel by Louis Becke, first published in 1899. It tells the story of a young man, Tom Mariner, who leaves his home in England to seek his fortune in the South Seas. He joins a trading schooner, the "Lively Lady", and embarks on a voyage of adventure and discovery. Along the way, he meets a variety of characters, including a beautiful Polynesian girl, a mysterious old sailor, and a ruthless trader. He also encounters danger and excitement, as he and his crew battle storms, pirates, and cannibals. Through it all, Tom learns the value of friendship and loyalty, and discovers the true meaning of home.
