Robert E. Howard (1906-1936) was an American author of fantasy, horror, and adventure stories. He is best known for creating the character of Conan the Barbarian, a sword-and-sorcery hero who has become a pop culture icon. Howard wrote hundreds of stories in a variety of genres, including historical fiction, westerns, boxing stories, detective stories, and horror stories. He also wrote poetry and essays. His works have been adapted into comic books, films, television series, and video games. Howard was born in Peaster, Texas, and died in Cross Plains, Texas, at the age of 30. He is considered one of the most influential authors of the 20th century.
