W. W. Jacobs

William Wymark Jacobs (1863–1943) was an English author of short stories and novels. He was born in Wapping, London, and began writing at an early age. He wrote his first short story, "The Monkey's Paw," in 1902, and it was an instant success. He went on to write many more stories, as well as novels, plays, and poems. His works often featured dark humor and irony, and he was known for his ability to create suspense. He wrote about a variety of topics, including the supernatural, crime, and everyday life. He was also a popular lecturer and public speaker. He died in 1943 at the age of 80.
