Richard Harding Davis

Richard Harding Davis (1864-1916) was an American journalist, playwright, and novelist. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and attended Lehigh University and Harvard University. He began his career as a journalist in 1887, working for the Philadelphia Press and Harper's Weekly. He was a war correspondent for the Spanish-American War, the Boer War, and the Russo-Japanese War. He wrote several novels, including The Bar Sinister (1901), The Scarlet Car (1903), and The Princess Aline (1905). He also wrote several plays, including The Masked Ball (1902) and The Girl from Maxim's (1906). He was a popular writer in his day, and his works were widely read. He was also a member of the prestigious literary society, the Players Club.
