Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) was a British author best known for his detective stories featuring the character Sherlock Holmes. He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh. After graduating, he worked as a doctor in Southsea, England, before turning to writing full-time. Doyle wrote four novels and 56 short stories featuring Sherlock Holmes. He also wrote historical novels, science fiction stories, plays, and non-fiction works. His most famous works include The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1892), The Sign of the Four (1890), and The Hound of the Baskervilles (1902). Doyle was knighted in 1902 for his services to literature. He died in 1930 at the age of 71.
