C.J. Dennis

C.J. Dennis (1876–1938) was an Australian poet, journalist, and author. He is best known for his humorous verse, particularly The Songs of a Sentimental Bloke (1915) and The Moods of Ginger Mick (1916). He also wrote several novels, including The Sentimental Bloke (1919) and The Moods of Ginger Mick (1921). Dennis was born in Auburn, South Australia, and educated at Prince Alfred College in Adelaide. He worked as a journalist for several newspapers, including The Bulletin and The Critic. He was a prolific writer, publishing over 20 books during his lifetime. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1935 for his services to literature.
