Dallas Lore Sharp (1870-1929) was an American naturalist, author, and educator. He was born in New Jersey and attended Rutgers University, where he earned a degree in biology. He then went on to teach at Rutgers and the University of Pennsylvania. Sharp was an avid outdoorsman and wrote extensively about nature and the environment. He wrote several books, including The Wilderness of the Upper Yukon (1913), The Valley of the Upper Yellowstone (1914), and The Mountains of California (1915). He also wrote numerous articles for magazines such as The Atlantic Monthly and The Saturday Evening Post. Sharp was a strong advocate for conservation and was a founding member of the National Parks Association. He was also a member of the American Ornithologists' Union and the American Society of Naturalists. He was awarded the John Burroughs Medal for distinguished natural history writing in 1925. Sharp died in 1929 at the age of 59. He is remembered as one of the most influential naturalists of his time.
