Uncle Wiggily Longears, a bunny rabbit gentleman, embarks on a fishing trip after being invited by Jackie Bow Wow, a puppy dog boy, and Charlie Chick, a little rooster chap. Using a hammock hook and cherry pie as bait, Uncle Wiggily inadvertently catches a hat and a cap belonging to the mischievous Skeezicks and Pipsisewah, who are hiding nearby. The two troublemakers plan to catch Uncle Wiggily but are thwarted by his unexpected catches. Later, Uncle Wiggily, Jackie, and Charlie visit a drug store, where they buy ice cream cones and goldfish, having caught no fish. In another adventure, Uncle Wiggily decides to gather chestnuts for a cake after meeting Johnnie and Billie Bushytail, two squirrel boys. With the help of Charlie and Arabella Chick, who use their beaks to avoid the prickly burrs, Uncle Wiggily fills a bag with chestnuts. The Pipsisewah and Skeezicks, thinking the bag contains a cake, attempt to steal it but end up covered in chestnut burrs. Uncle Wiggily returns home, and Nurse Jane bakes a cake with the chestnuts, while the Pip and Skee are left with splinters. In a third escapade, Uncle Wiggily joins a group of animal friends, including Sammie and Susie Littletail, Johnnie and Billie Bushytail, and others, to roast marshmallow candies in the woods. Susie accidentally sets her marshmallow on fire, but Uncle Wiggily extinguishes it with water from his hat. Nannie Wagtail, a goat girl, gets stuck in marshmallows but is pulled free by the group. The fun is interrupted by a fuzzy tramp fox, who claims the woods as his own and threatens Uncle Wiggily. The bunny cleverly tricks the fox into sitting on sticky marshmallows, trapping him and allowing the group to escape safely.
