R. Dee Aycock is an award-winning author of fiction and nonfiction. He has written several books, including the novel The Last of the Mohicans, the memoir The Long Road Home, and the short story collection The Best of R. Dee Aycock. He has also written for magazines and newspapers, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal. Aycock was born in North Carolina and grew up in the small town of Pilot Mountain. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a degree in English. After college, he worked as a journalist and editor for several newspapers and magazines. Aycock has won numerous awards for his writing, including the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, the National Book Award, and the Pushcart Prize. He currently lives in North Carolina with his wife and two children.
