Saki is the pen name of Hector Hugh Munro, a British writer born on December 18, 1870, in Akyab, Burma (now Myanmar). He is known for his witty, mischievous, and sometimes macabre short stories. Munro was educated in England and worked as a journalist before turning to fiction. He served in World War I and was killed in action on November 14, 1916, in France. His notable works include "The Open Window" and "Sredni Vashtar."
